Hi everyone, I'm trying to install a new extractor fan. Problem is that the new fan has 3 inputs, whilst my old one was installed with SIX wires.

What I'm trying to install:
What I see when pulling off the cover of my old one:
I have lifted the flap of my old one but there is no indication of what the connectors are, although it resembles this one a lot:

If it turns out to be the same, should I connect whatever is in SL into the new LT?

And also, what would I do with the yellow and green wire?

Thank you.

Yes SL (switched live) goes to LT (live timer)
L&N are the same. Earth (green yellow) goes nowhere. Like the old fan, leave it in that bit of terminal block.

Thank you for that. I have one more basic question, in the new image the input has two screws below each wire. I just need to connect my existing wires to the first input right? And it will link up to the second part?

Example: I raise the first screw on N, put in my black and blue wire, secure the screw and thus it is connected to the blue (N) wire?

Yes. It’s a standard terminal block. I piece of metal that joins up the two sides.

Thanks again. After great difficulty I have now installed the new fan! I was wondering, if my botch job allows condensation to enter the internals and the fan explodes or something, will it cause an electrical fire or damage the various wires permanently?

How much of a bodge job have you done ??
If the fan sits snuggly against the mounting surface ,and the cover fits well ,I don't think you have much to worry about.

Here is the pic of my wiring, I'm a bit concerned about the blue wire. Although, it doesn't look that much different from how my old one was installed (by someone else before we moved here):

At the moment it's only connected by one screw to the wall. It doesn't sit flush and I'm waiting to borrow my father in law's drill so I can drill a few more holes. This is how it sits to the wall:

p.s the masking tape is there because the wires are so tough that they're pushing the plastic sealing cup off, so I'm trying to keep it flush to keep out condensation.

It does mean a lot to me, but the hole where the wires can come out of frame is where the wires are (take a look at the first pic). I tried installing it the right way round but I couldn't push it in properly because the hole on the wall wouldn't allow it. Hence I have had to install it sideways.

Very simple, drill another hole so that the wires come into the fan base in the right place. Then the fan can be the right way up.
That UP instruction is there for a reason. Perhaps something to do with bearings lifetime.
