As I have said with a previous post, you get what you pay for, if you group a load of circuits onto one RCD one has to expect it to trip from time to time. Fact you say both tripping rings alarm bells, how long have they been tripping for?

I wonder if some one has wired the landing light wrong and electrician has missed it, so as other have said get electrician back.

Thanks , tripping seems to have been going on for weeks . Don’t understand comment about landing light?

Many landing lights can be switched with two switches, and years ago it was common to use two gang switches and borrow the line from the other switch, this was OK if both lights used the same MCB, but then people would separate upper and lower lights, once separated you need three cores between the switches, and you can't borrow the line or you get a borrowed neutral situation.

If the two MCB's come from same RCD it is still wrong but it works, but if different RCD there are 4 combinations of the two switches 2 being off, one is on and will not trip lights, one is on and will trip lights.

It may be some thing completely different, but two RCD's tripping rings alarm bells, and would look at landing lights.

What does the EICR say was checked, the fault might arise from a socket/circuit that wasn't checked.

Blup

That would lead to both RCDs tripping at the same time. It is not clear whether that is the case.

Is it really worth asking any questions as we can do nothing from the internet and is the friend able to do any investigation?

An electrician on site is required..
