Now the fun begins

Just when we thought we were safe.

I find it odd that the often-self-proclaimed champions of all things democracy, have such a bizarre disjointed political system.

I think in some ways it better than ours.
They appear to have more democratic involvement in law making etc.

that too is a great idea. Bigger constituencies, less overhead keeping career politicians fed and watered for life.

Why we needed 600 and odd mps in the commons whilst in the eu was one of those mysteries of life.

Government should let go of it's hold on power and release more to a local level.
The turnout in local elections points to the fact people have little or no faith in their councillors to make any significant difference. Road potholes being one, it's beyond my comprehension why they pay contractors to mend them in such a way they'll be back again two years down the line repairing the same pothole.
Unbelievable Jeff.
And as for the 1 in 100000. Is that every constituency that applies?

I agree, but we don't seem to like local government in this country. Most seem to like a centralised system.

I don't know which way round the cause and effect is here!

I just looked at 65 million people and 650 MPs.

My Mrs got herself involved on behalf of a residents association at local level.
To say it was a daunting experience would be something of an understatement.
