Hello,

We have removed floor tiles from a bathroom and hallway area and then also dug trenches to route copper pipes through.

Both the removal of floor tiles and the installation of copper pipes have left the floor looking like a bomb has gone off.

I would like to "screed" over the area to bring it to a smooth and same level as the rest of the floor in the house. However in some places there is only a few mm of depth and I think it will just flake away after it dries. How can I repair this floor most effectively? What materials should I use?

I'd probably fill the deeper channels where the pipework is with some cement so it's more or less level with the rest, then use self levelling compound over the lot to finished level.

Id also wrap/cover the copper pipes before filling in.

Some photos of the messed up floor.

What's the eventual floor covering going to be? Whatever you do you definitely need to wrap those pipes.
Hard to tell from those pics but it looks as if the pipes are only 10mm or so below the surface which will give you problems with any mortar type product.
Personally I'd put a lot of effort into not having those pipes in a concrete floor....

I will ask him to dig them in a bit deeper to allow for insulation and at least 20mm of self levelling over, or maybe I should use the 5star grout, I am not sure.
