What is anticycling mode on a Vaillant?

Is it bad for the boiler to go into anticycling mode too often? does this reduce efficiency?

The boiler will run for 15mins, go into anticycling for a few mins then repeat

I'm running low temps, flow temperature at the boiler around 39-41 a lot of the time the return temps in the D settings are not too much lower than this.

Just wanting to check what is normal and hopefully not causing wear and tear on the boiler

Probably running it at those temps is why it’s going into anti-cycling mode. Why running so low?

The boiler will go into anticycling mode when the heating demand is less than the minimum boiler output, the flowtemperature will then start rising above its setpoint and the burner will trip when the flowtemp is 5C > than the SP.

Thanks John that is exactly what I've been seeing when monitoring the boiler, I been trying to change settings avoid the anticycling as much as possible but I guess it's inevitable, the boiler is overized for the property which makes matters worse

You can but the range rating has no effect on the minimum output of the boiler.

What exactly does range rating do then?

I had already range rated from 30 down to 11, I feel it might even be able to go lower

Quite gutted I didn't get a 12kw or 15kw, do you think that would of performred a lot better? I do have a large cylinder also with a 25kw coil

degradation gross boiler efficiency due to boiler cycling diagram

This graph is from heatgeek, am I reading right in seeing that as long as you are getting cycles over 3 minutes you are not losing much efficiency

I get cycles mainly of about 10minutes or more, I'm guessing this is nothing to worry about at all then.
