Is there a different product I can use to attach to my slate vent. The position of the extractor hood is being compromised by the size of the adapter.

Ideally I would do away with the adapter and fit a flexi tube to it, but the connection is an oblong shape.

I am going to end up having to use some clunky boxing in otherwise.

This adapter connects on to normal ventilation tube which attaches to the extractor.

It is to big and really I need to bypass this and fit direct onto the vent slate BUT this is shaped in an oval shape, hence you use this adapter. I just wondered if there was an alternative diy version I could knock up instead.

Normally these adapters are great, it’s just that I have a space issue

Can you hold up what you're trying to connect, next to what you're trying to connect it to, take one picture of them both together, and upload it?

Oval or oblong? You mention both and refer to “this” with no photo for us to know what you refer too?

This is the back of slate vent without adapter

Please show a picture of what you want to connect to the slate vent, next to the slate vent

I want to see relative sizes and shapes

In simple terms, we need to see both ends that need connecting together.
What is the end shape of the pipe you want to connect to the adapter in the first picture?
What are the dimensions of both pieces?

It’s a secret .

It’s a big standard extractor hood for a hob.

So the same dimension as 100mm extraction tubing diameter. I need to go from this to the back of the slate vent.

The adapter works normally but in this case I need to see if I can find something less chunky.

How about an adaptor to the extractor to change it to rectangular, followed by rectangular trunking against the wall, across to the slate vent behind the ceiling, then another adaptor to change it back to circular?

Ah ha, a possible solution. Could I not stay in rectangular from the extractor all the way to the slate vent. This is the bit I am not sure about, but I will look at the rectangular stuff. Thanks

Yes, you can use rectangular for the whole run and just use an adaptor where it's needed.
