Does the Conservative Party actually want to reduce the number of asylum seekers?

Mitie signed a £53m contract with the Home Office to provide security services at hotels housing Afghan refugees from September 2022.

” …..an overall fall from the £59.2m it made in the same period last year thanks to the expiry of £40m of Covid contracts, the firm’s profit from central government contracts has soared 71% to £25.5m”

So it seems private companies that made huge profits from covid, want some more of the action…..along comes an asylum seeker crisis, made worse conveniently by the govt.

Do Tories benefit financially from the asylum seeker crisis?

Tory peer Philippa Roe, or Baroness Couttie, sits on the Mitie company board, and was given a seat in the House of Lords by David Cameron in 2017. A party whip in the upper chamber, she was Conservative leader of Westminster Council between 2012 and 2017.
Conservative peer Baroness McGregor-Smith, who is currently president of the British Chamber of Commerce and a non-executive board member of the Department for Education, was CEO of Mitie for almost a decade

I was simply pointing out the absurdity of the claim. Since posting, I held my nose and for the first time logged into Musk's new Twitter to read the comments. Out of about fifty people, only two seemed to have given any thought to whether the figure of £1.6bn could possibly be true. And this post has been forwarded more than 2000 times. Stuff like this really doesn't help those wanting to make a serious argument.
The question is do you approve of paying out more to house migrants/asylum seekers than is currently being forked out just so that the nasty party can appear to 'being tough' on an issue that in itself is a tiny percentage of the problem they have helped create?

Simply to appease the ignorant portion of the electorate they hope will keep them in power!

Funnily enough the net migration was far lower before brexit, because there was a more natural flow of people in and out...

But the brexiteers couldn't see the real homegrown causes of their problems and hence the mess that the UK now finds itself in!

Its a framework contract. So yes.

Imagine the price you'd offer me per store, if I said I had 10,000 stores.
The1st question anyone would ask is.

How many of those 10,000 stores are we guaranteed to get ? Just 1? Then we will charge a higher price.

If you want a lower price, then guarantee me more.

How about some in here helping out

Yeah those who talk the talk

Got a spare room ? You could help out and take in a migrant ??

Yes exactly not your problem ? House to small ? Not enough room ? Bla bla

All **$$ and wind :ROFLMAO:

You support mass uncontrolled immigration. What do you mean

Bod, I question the govts dishonest, failed inhumane Rwanda policy, I question Bravermans horrible hateful language, I question people who say “I don’t want them coming here” - because they can’t say which country will take more.

None of that means I I support mass, uncontrolled immigration.

Bod please try to avoid appeal to extremes logical fallacy, it brings nothing to any debate.

However the money is spent, its gone.

Asylum seekers , economic migrants don't look after themselves.

Well Sunak parents were economic migrants as were Suella coming to the UK to make a better life the bloody scroungers.

But keep repeating the lie that we could look after our own better if it wasn't for the economic migrants - when were there fewer migrants? 1940s 1930s ? 1950s = when was the ideal time to be poor in the UK so we could look after the poor better?

Right wing supporters simply havent twigged that the govt which has spent years making the poor poorer and destroying services is the same govt telling the general public it’s all the fault of foreigners.

its the same govt that spent years blaming the EU for causing all our economic problems……now we’ve left the EU and the economy is as bad as ever so the govt has switched to blaming foreigners
