Is general election imminent: looks like govt will give tax cut in budget then announce Election soon after

Perhaps the Bra Baroness could chip in a bit.

Or Hancock's pub landlord.

I am quite old enough to remember just how inept the Labour governments were and still will be.

Considring the run of results the Tories have faced at recent by-elections they'd be mad to go for a GE this Spring...so yeah, they probably will. The Chancellor has very little fat to trim off the budget to make that much of a difference.

It's widely thought the the objective is not to keep the Tories in power (probably hopeless) but to cynically create a problem for whoever has to clean up the mess after they've gone.

It's not unusual for outgoing administrations to leave a mess - blue, red or yellow flavour, makes no odds. Usually the mess is the reason they are outgoing.

Only one in no. 10 who does what he should and has proved a highly effective asset in recent times is Larry the cat.

The only useful thing Camoron did when he appointed him chief mouser to HM Govt.

I never really agreed with what old Derek 'the pipe' who drinks in my local always says "politicians, who would vote for a politician?? I'd shoot the bloody lot of them!!" As time goes on, have to concede he's right.

Tax cuts may mean more Labour U Turns as they would be called. I personally detect signs of Labour taking on Rory theTory idea of being honest to the public. To a degree anyway.

Hunt is sending out mixed messages on tax cuts. They will of course be totally responsible about it eg not borrowing to allow them, the only for instance.

I've seen forecasts by the OBR that debt will increase for some time but now influenced by the high tax take. Looked like it could have exceeded 100% gdp, Councils - well lots of them are having difficulties.
