As far as government buildings / facilities etc it could be a genuine concern but surely access could be blocked behind firewalls / VPN’s etc.

I have been running QVRpro and two Amcrest Poe cameras for four years without any issues. The NAS is an investment but also provides file storage, including music and backup.
And where do you think Swann are made?
Swann get there gear from other manufacturers but often it’s the cheaper end of everything bundled together.
As for the UK, surveillance by the Chinese government is likely as the own a large share of the company.
The concern isn’t the cameras as such as access to their networks.
Many public buildings are allowed hik cameras just in their Iowan dedicated network.
Guessing they would need some serious AI to view the millions of cameras out there and determine images of interest.
