electriQ experiences?

Looking at CCTV again. Tesco sell some that look good value. Has anybody experience of these products?

With these systems, are the cameras powered by the unit, like with speakers? I assume so....
seems easy to set up?

No, those are analog cameras which require a separate 12V DC power supply.

Whether such a thing is included with that kit isn't clear, but you can see the two connections on the cable in the picture - yellow BNC for the video, red for the power.
At that price you will be getting the absolute lowest possible quality of everything.
The description is contradictory and appears to be an amalgamation of several different things.

hmmm. Are there cameras that run off the main box? I have not got a socket in the loft, and don't want to be running loads of cables from the house into the ceiling...

Yes, that's it.
The cable used normally is a twin type with both the video and power in it, so there is only one cable to install, but there are 2 connections at each end.
