OH GOD!It’s only the internal skin, is it much of a deal?
It's blockwork and it's adequate. The lower course bonding is not brilliant (1/4 bond) but is acceptable. The joints look full. How would you class this quality of internal brickwork?
This is exactly what I am asking in my OP.It’s only the internal skin, is it much of a deal?
If accessible - yes. If not, at least lap the new DPC up the wall 100mm or so.Should the dpc overlap with the existing? It is two brick courses too low and doesn't lap vertically up to the current dpc
We used to get asked to lap the DPC's (new-old) a lot back in the day, by the BCO's. It became apparent the builders were making more of a mess of the existing DPC, attempting to remove the joint or the brick, so they just asked for it to be butted and lapped up the wall a wee bit.I mean when it was installed (they only added the wall for us recently) the brickie should have known to do this, right?
Thanks for the info! So to definitely should havegove verticals up the wall to the 2nd course brick where existing dpc is?We used to get asked to lap the DPC's (new-old) a lot back in the day, by the BCO's. Unlikely to have consequences, but lazy of them not to at least go the full length. By lapping it up the wall, it more robustly deals with any issues there could be with the existing DPC/masonry.Thanks for the info!
