Waitrose to bring back free coffee without the need to buy anything

I'd like to see some legislation come in to restrict the number of supermarkets and their size. A cut to business rates for high street shops wouldn't go amiss either.
Why does it make perfect sense to most of us but not the ones able to change legislation...hmmm. How any small business and shops manage to compete with online companies etc its beyond me, its shameful that councils have literally suffocated high streets from excessive business rate and excessive punitive penalties for customers attempting to park nearby.

Do you think Reform will tackle any of this? I'm not up on the gen regards this so haven't got a scooby.

Its the biggest con ever, we checkout our own food and let Waitrose pocket the profit (anyway sorry somewhat off topic i know).
I take it you are still getting the attendant to fill up your tank at the petrol station then? ;)

Christ on a bike - the luddites have escaped from the asylum.

or perhaps you meant Amish?
You don't want to see everyday people able to start and run small businesses on the high street? You want big mega corporations to sell you everything from a warehouse that you order from online? What do you want? What are your ideas for supporting local economies all over this country?

Honestly? Unless they recruit a collective of experienced advisors who have proven ground giving experienced measured advice with the ability to execute the reform manifesto successfully, then i am not sure they will be any different. Labour spent most of their efforts blocking and opposing the Tories, the Tories with their embarrassing overly confident smug leader are at it now. Its a flaw how our government operates, ive said this time over, all MP's should be sworn in under oath an commitment that they always do what's best for and prioritises British citizens most importantly over commercial interests, and if that means collaborate with other parties that must be recognised as a positive move.

My no.1 resentment is 'tax the rich' thats fine but lets have a flat rate. The more i earn the more tax i pay, why should i have to pay a higher percentage tax rate ie penalised for working harder. (i know some jobs are not recognised despite working as hard but that's another subject, and is subjective)

Aha touche strangely doesn't feel right at all if ive come across a pump attendants sitting in my car and letting them fill up my car no. A bit like waiters topping up my glass etc i don't like it, it feels 2 tier. However filling up your car naturally feels like a self servicing task.
Checking out a basket of food doesnt and is far more time consuming.
Perhaps if they manage what Amazon and the likes of Decathlon where you could just walk in pickup and leave without having to checkout every product then perhaps i would stop moaning about a discount whilst we are being forced to undertake that lack of investment in technology and checkout our shopping ourselves.. Thats all it us, The tech is there but it would eat into their profits.

Well the one thing I know is that I don't believe in the competence of either of the main parties to help reignite small business. Our High Street is just about still going but struggling and this is echoed up and down the country. Reform seem to understand business but will they have the bottle to do something about it. I hope so. I agree, our so called leaders spend their time in spats rather than working for the people and the country. I too would prefer them to work together for the commin good as I am sick of seeing managed decline.

Too much power is being transferred over to corporations and it is and will be the death of our freedoms and ability to start small business.
You have the freedom to start a small business when ever you like. What made you hallucinate the idea that you didn't?

I use the scan and shop at Sainsbury’s. I buy most of my veg loose and like to choose what ones I want to buy. I also take other products from the back of the shelf to get the longest dates. If you have your shopping delivered of you are served in a shop, you can't do that. Then, just a quick blip at the checkout and I’m off. Occasionally I get chosen for a spot check but it’s never more than about a dozen items and they pick the ones easiest to get at in your trolley. Takes no more than 90 seconds unless they find something you haven’t scanned and then they check the whole lot but if something has not been scanned, that would be my fault, not theirs. That did happen once, they checked the whole trolley load and although I hadn’t scanned one of the spot check items, they found something more expensive that I had scanned twice so it came to £4 cheaper!

Collective cohesion is the biggest barrier I think.

I always try to use cash wherever possible and use a staffed till wherever possible. Almost every time I use cash in a shop now, I get 'oh cash, no-one uses it now' and 'we don't take cash' and 'We can take cash as long as you have the exact amount'.

Too much power is being transferred over to corporations and it is and will be the death of our freedoms and ability to start small business.
Conspiracy theorist.

No doubt you believe World Economic Forum want to eliminate cash to control us.

Too much power is being transferred over to corporations
The rise of digitalisation has seen far too much power transferred to corporations.

Take Uber for instance, they are an organisation of people sitting in front computers who make money by creaming margins out of taxi drivers.

and this is just an example: booking.com, ticketmaster, eBay, Amazon, are all doing the same.
