Recommendations for half decent mitre saw that will cut 8x2

Hey guys

I've got a fair amount of 8x2s to cut for my loft conversion. Most of my tools are pretty good but my current mitre saw isn't brilliant with accuracy (and won't adjust nicely) so I'm going to take the opportunity to upgrade.

Anyone have any recommendations please? It will never be used for site work, so 240v only

I don't mind spending a few hundred on it, but midrange will be acceptable. No need for Festool

Brother inlaw bought one of these a few years ago for a decking job I helped him on, good saw for the price.

Thanks guys I'll check it out, I'm a bit of a Makita fanboy for all my battery stuff, never had any corded Makita kit before!

Don't think you can really go wrong with Makita. Otherwise there's always Dewalt but that will be more costly.

Can pick up an evolution 255 double bevel for similar, less if you're willing to go second hand (though word of warning there - plenty of people describe a saw as double bevel when it isn't- general rule of thumb; if the motor sticks out the side and drives the blade directly it's unlikely to be DB because the motor would strike the work)

thanks, I've actually got an Evolution circular saw with the tracks and have to admit it's a brilliant bit of kit, I'll check out some reviews

I must admit, my old stand mounted Dewalt 708 sliding mitre (305mm blade) is a beast, but is coming to the end of its useful life. Fully serviceable is important for pro's that are in it for the long term. I will deffo buy another Dewalt if and when the time comes.

I bought an Evolution circ saw 10 years ago and can't believe it's still going.. Brush replacement is easy. The only trouble it's given so far is the on/off switch filling up with sawdust and the contacts becoming temperamental. Prying it open and cleaning them up took about 30 mins..

Or, you can get a Titan from Screwfix at £90, and charge it to the job. It WILL still be working afterward, so win win.

I had 3 of these when running my joinery shop, I kept one.

I found the older ones more powerful.

Great saws for the workshop, but I hate having to carry them from the van round the back of a house on site…..even worse lugging them up a scaffold

Thanks so much guys and apologies for the late reply, will check out those saws. Might try get a second hand DeWalt, though at that age they have probably had a good life already!
