Tripping out consumer unit when plug oven in

How old is it? We had one of those about 3 or 4 microwaves ago. Mrs Mottie insists on changing them every now and then when she 'suspects' they may be leaking microwaves. She can sense when that is happening……
Few years old.

That is a 32 A Circuit Breaker.
Hence, if it tripped, more than 32 A has been drawn from the circuit.
The device has a "short-circuit", in itself - or in the lead".

Most likely within the "device".

You could attempt to have it repaired but it may be just a cheap/expensive to buy a new one,
particularly if it is more than a few years old !
Just a thought but when I put 100mm screws into wall for brackets (I know too long) but could I have drilled into something electrical or going to the plug? I guess I could plug it non elsewhere to check that theory?

You mention other devices on the same socket work fine so the microwave itself is faulty.

When exactly does the MCB trip? Upon turning on the device or immediately when plugging it in?

Just plugged it in and didn't seem to trip but lcd screen was flashing on and off weirdly and couldn't turn it on

It could be moisture or water inside appiance, see it all the time in production areas. I would be performing a PAT test and internal inspection but it's probably not worth it for yourself.
