I don't know, that guy from Newark wasn't and it was for killing an intruder who was also from the local traveller community
Tony Martin was from Emneth Hungate. The Traveler's were from Newark. So not local.

70 odd miles apart is about an hour half drive. I lived about 11/2 miles away at the time. I think I was local but Barras was not.

Patrick Barclay has died at the age of 77.

Born and raised in Dundee and a fan of Dundee FC, Barclay joined the Guardian as a subeditor from the city’s Evening Telegraph newspaper in the 1970s before becoming the Independent’s first football correspondent after its launch in 1986. He moved to the Observer in 1991 and five years later became football correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph, a post he held until 2008.

Used to read his column in The Observer every week. A staple of my sporting life for years, alongside Simon Barnes and the late, great Hugh Mcilvenny. Always interesting, never dull.
