Bit more info re Gene Hackman and his wife.

Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found partially-mummified at the couple's $3.3 million mansion, with pills strewn in their bathroom. Two maintenance workers discovered the bodies of the 95-year-old Hollywood star and his wife, 64, at their luxurious million Santa Fe mansion at 1:46pm on Wednesday. Police were told they hadn't seen the couple in two weeks.

I can remember that chess match. My English teacher ran the chess club and that's all he spoke about.

It's a terrible story what happened to badfinger.
Legal fights and no payments caused a death and the band to spilt up. Worth looking up. Should of been a good band with many hits but they got tucked up like a kipper.
Rip joey. Baby blue will always be in my playlist.

Yeah Joey was the only one who didn't commit suicide. Their first manager loved them and did his best for them, but he was a crap manager who didn't seem to be able to monetise their success. The replacement manager was much more successful and got them some huge tours, but he nicked all their money. Pete Ham died in 1975, they'd had a string of hit records and Pete Hams partner was 8 months pregnant when he died, Pete had learned the day before that there was 'no money', and he couldn't see how he would be able to feed his family.
I believe Joey taught music in America in later life but included teaching the students about management and contracts.
Toward the end of his life Joey's family relied on 'go fund me' pages to pay his medical bills.

They've left an incredible legacy of songs and should have been superstars.

What a tragedy.
