A photo from outdoors, showing the general construction, plus more indoors, similar to the one you posted, giving a wider view of the area.
More than likely at that thickness, have a look at the top of the wall in the loft.
How would photos of the outside help?
Because the one photo provided, doesn't give much of a clue as why that wall is so thick.
One certain way, would be to drill in from the outside with a small diameter, long drill.

Has anyone ever built a solid wall that's 11.5" thick? Other than on a castle.
My likely guess is 1" pebble dash + 4" brick + 2" cavity (old days standard) + 4" brick + 0.5" plaster = 11.5"

I've built 13 inch solid walls, but not on a standard modern house. However nowadays with people adding insulation to their walls you can't always be sure from measurements at the jambs.
I'd say though that the figures you give are the most likely.
