I was going to say that whilst it's no substitute for a burger, a thick slice of grilled squeaky cheese does make a nice hot sarnie filling. Bit of chilli sauce with it, and some crispy lettuce. What sort of cheese? Squeaky like halloumi or something else?
Yeah I like halloumi, I like it best done on the BBQ with a good squeeze of lemon juice on itI was going to say that whilst it's no substitute for a burger, a thick slice of grilled squeaky cheese does make a nice hot sarnie filling. Bit of chilli sauce with it, and some crispy lettuce.
Or even better - wet the slice of cheese with water or milk, dredge through cornflour, and fry - the coating goes very crunchy.

Same as grilling cheese I think, it's nice and cheap in Aldi. You can fry it in a pan too and it only takes a couple of minutes but it's deffo not an English classic.Neve
