It started before that. Trump welcomed him by saying "he's dressed up for the occasion" having a dig because Zelensky wasn't in a suit but black combat gear.

Vance probably has a different long term agenda to Trump. Full on Project 2025 combined with the Handmaid's Tale. He's much more intellectual than Trump, but a weird, scary guy. Maybe he sees some benefit in letting Putin win and intimidate Europe. We'll probably never know.

I do hope Zelensky' takes 2 marching paces before he makes a public statement on what just happened.
The minerals deal is still on the table so the next few hours will determine whether Europe will be standing alone in support of Ukraine.

He has said very nice things on Twitter following the meeting.

All he really asked for, which upset Trump and Vance, were security guarantees. Pointing out that Putin can't be trusted.
