What’s with all these cooking threads?

I posted a pizza recipe in the best cooking thread, admittingly I don't actually make them myself but I do eat them and critique them when Mrs Highwayman brings them to me
I must have missed it. Neapolitan or Romana?

For me it’s got to be 00 grade flour.

Me too, though the current ms motorbiking is a decent enough cook.

My ex wife once made carbonara with salad cream because she thought the sauce was close enough and that’s how you make it creamy. So I kinda learned to cook through necessity.

I love salad cream. I think I read Heinz are discontinuing it, bastards. I wonder if there's something you can add to mayonnaise to make it taste like salad cream.

Vinegar and mustard is basically the difference. Personally, I’d use olive oil vinegar and mustard and make a french dressing instead.

Add a couple of wild garlic flowers which are almost in here.

I've had a quick look and think it's just the vegan salad cream they are discontinuing? Phew. It'd be a tragedy if they stopped making salad cream.

It appears that most of you are given what to eat by your other halves. So far not a single recipe thread.
A recent blood test showed me as being pre-diabetic. The numbers where you are okay at was up to 41 on the scale and I came out at 42 so juuust in the 'at risk' zone. Anyway, I had a call from my doctor last week asking if I wanted to go on a programme. I said yes and this morning I reviewed a set of Bluetooth scales that I link to an app on my phone and follow some dietary and exercise instructions. I officially start on Monday. They also sent me a recipe book too.

I made this tonight:

It was very nice although not quite the portion size I’m used to!

That looks tasty. I am eating badly at the mo, I could do with reigning it in. Need some motivation

Wait until the vegans chip in.
Well, I'm not vegan, but I am veggie. But hey, live and let live, if you'll excuse the irony....I'm not about to attack anybody because of what they choose to eat.

Are you overweight?
Health conditions?

There are some motivations.

You could look at the kinds of foods you eat.
The quantities you eat.
Frequency/ fridge-raiding.
Exercise.

To start with, don't try and change too many things at once.

I started losing loads of weight by being in hospital. I was not mobile, which helped, but people were bringing in food for me and I was eating everything they brought for me. Still, I lost a goodly amount of weight.

Now, obviously, you're not in hospital, so you need to exercise some will power. Eat the same things you would normally eat, but watch the portions. And don't fridge raid between meals, except maybe for a piece of fruit or a few nuts.

If you want, use an app to keep track of calories.

I find the best one is my fitness pal. You can scan nearly everything that has a barcode and adjust quantities and it will work out how many calories you have taken in.
