English Cooking

My grandmother grew up eating rabbit as did her siblings. It was regular food for them. As a child she would skin them herself and probably shot or snared them herself too.

Used to set snares in woodland along the riverbank to catch coneys when i were a lad - right tasty, fresh n' furry...terrible job skinnin' 'em, but worth the effort when you watch 'em bubblin' in t'pot, along with spring veggies n' fresh 'erb.

No but seriously, what is "English" food?

How long does an ingredient or a dish have to be here before it qualifies as "traditional"?
Chicken Tikka Massala?

Well ok technically it is Scottish, but it's a UK dish that the English have adopted and consume in large amounts.

A traditional after pub meal for many years!

My parents made rabbit stew when I was growing up, it’s certainly traditional English food and you could buy it from the butchers.
I haven't seen rabbit in t'butchers shop for many yonks - is it regular round your way?

Our local butcher often has it. Domestic, free-range, not the Chinese imported. And it's bldy expensive.
