I've tried to find someone who's done the maths but to get a 1kg space probe up to 1% the speed of light, so 1 light year would take a century, would require more Xenon than exists on the planet earth....Ion Drive to propel and accelerate over long distances.

Actually it requires more xenon than the entire mass of the earth.
Ion thrusters are great, but they're not magic. For interstellar travel I think you're pretty much in need of nuclear propulsion of some sort.

I like to keep an open mind on the subject...
Perhaps they do, but more likely they don't and so they won't release anything, and you'll still be crying censorship.
An open mind is good but you need to make sure you haven't opened it so much you've become gullible.
My mind can be changed with evidence of Alien life (intelligent alien life pottering around in flying saucers), I don't think there's anything that would convince you you're wrong. That's not being open minded.
