you are the one that asked where were they i asked would you actually see them .
Everything you have said is a guessing game based on technology in its infancy of a mere few decades

No, my position is based on proven physics, humanity 's lifespan, tendencies, and failings, economics, and reality.

Why spend centuries and significant chunks of money trying to spend further decades doing nothing but twiddling thumbs in a spaceship , when you can just point a sodding great telescope there and achieve at least as much?

You still have your head in the stone age -by talking about carrying fuel
You still have your head up your ass if you think that a spacecraft can travel at 10% the speed of light for half a century, without it, lol.
It's actually 46 years at 10% of light speed, give or take a year for acceleration and slowing down.

Dream on boyos.

You really are clueless arn't you. I thought you was joking but I now get the feeling that you really are a dinosaur. It is amusing thoough. Oh how we all laughed.

so you dont think there will be any progress in suspended animation tech to save those thumbs being twiddled .
Economics , how many everyday products have come about from the space race etc
Yep that massive big telescope will tell you exactly the same as the man on the ground .

Do you think it needs to continue to burn fuel in order to maintain its speed?

People are right you do come across as a troll - an aggressive one at that. Please try to be civil if you want to contribute to the conversation.

Again you still have your head in the cave talking about fuel as if its sticks of wood. And you also have to loose the cave man mindset concept of "travel" in the way that you are. And I am not talking about US going there I am - but as the thread title suggest we talking about something coming here.

For hugely less money, and right now (rather than hundreds of years from now).

Plus, the information gleaned from the telescope can be pored over by many, many people.
Relying on the skills, interpretations, and even opinions of just a handful of humans "on the ground" is suboptimal.

Although you won't accept it, I'll try again: I am sticking with reality, while you're relying on fantasies.

And?
Unless you are advocating spending continents' worth of cash and millennia of effort, in the hopes of coming up with the spin-off a better sock / frying pan / rawl plug [insert other groundbreaking product here] (y)

How do you propose those on board a 70'000 year journey survive without it?
And you also have to loose the cave man mindset concept of "travel" in the way that you are.
Why? Enormous distances are enormous distances, regardless. There is no magic potion to make them shorter.
And I am not talking about US going there I am - but as the thread title suggest we talking about something coming here.
Same physics.

still waiting for you to do the maths that suggests its 70,000 years.

I don't need to. Google have already said its (more than) 70'000 years.

I'm still waiting for you to take your math's out of fantasy land, but I guess I'm in for a long, long wait.....
