Democrats win in Wisconsin

Cory Brooker is doing his best for the beleagured Democrats at the moment...making the longest speech in Senate history on two glasses of water and the occasional time-out to shine a light on how damgerous Trump really is for American democracy.
The Washington Post tagline has never been more apt.

"Democracy dies in darkness."

Whilst I agree with everything that the trump haters on this forum say and look with incredulity at the clowns who support him the Dems were their own worse enemy in the last elections. The car crash harris was never in a million years going to become president even if she had had a credible election ploy, which she hadn't. The yanks would never have a woman president. The only alternative was trump, unfortunately. It's almost as if the Democrats wanted trump to win. Bit like over here really. Apart from farage, who I hate, who could be the next prime minister. Farage is very very popular amongst those that only see him through half closed eyes. I wont be voting next time that's for sure whenever it happens.

Biden hung on too long, which was his perogative. Kamala had a better chance than Joe, but it was always going to be tight.

Incumbent parties in democratic nations across the globe are realising the masses are fed up with them for a number of reasons.

Where do they turn ...

So yep, they only have themselves to blame.

It is rather odd that a country of that many, end up with the choices they have. But I guess it's better than China or Russia. One candidate and bye bye, if you disagree.

There are so many issues. But is Trump correct on perhaps the biggest one. Have forty plus years of globalisation, off shoring and free trade been a massive mistake. Should we have an economy based more on manufacturing and less on services. Would the country be happier with a substantially smaller GDP and/or a substantially higher cost of living, but with a fairer spread of income and wealth. Would the West be safer and happier if China had been kept impoverished.

tbh I don't know what the solution is. I doubt there is one in all honesty. As I've said in previous threads, since year dot humankind has sought to conquer, dominate, divide, subjugate etc. That will not change because humankind has certain core traits that will forever be. I suspect whoever's on this GD forum in decades to come will be having exactly the same discussions.

Before anyone starts, of course there is a lot of good in the world. I'm not saying there's not. However, on a global scale, I'd assert we'll never have true peace or true equality. And no, that doesn't mean we don't strive for these things, however the phrase p1ssing against the wind comes to mind ;)

You might think I'm being pessimistic, I'd say I'm being realistic. I despair when I see what's going on around the world, much of it instigated by very few, and it's exactly those people who don't actually want true peace or equality.

Wasn't tight in the slightest, it was a landslide victory for Trump. Kamala Harris was a raving lunatic and false in every way. This was the best candidate they had to replace sleepy Joe with? They deserved to lose like they did.

It was a narrow victory in every way except the one that mattered: the electoral college. There it was average in historical terms.
