Builders at the Gt. pyramid left their graffitti in secret spots to tell of their labour, not to mention the records kept by the foremen who ran the project. Why take away one of the great engineering feats of the ancient world from the people who worked so hard to achieve it? When the knowledge was lost they'd claim they were built by giants...now it's aliens, by people who can't be bothered to unchain their brain from a banal beleif that "the truth is out there".

Some people think it's down to racism, that the people saying it couldn't be the Egyptians (etc.) can't believe that a people they viewed as hopelessly backwards could build something that impressive.

Notice that no one seems to think the Romans or Greeks were assisted by Aliens.

Racism could play a part but the Roman and Greek Empire had more than a significant impact on the development of our own society, as well as being well documented. Egyptian culture was a mystery until the Rosetta Stone translated their written records, opening up Egyptian culture to study. Descendents of the Aztec and Maya cultures had no idea of their ancestors former greatness until archaeological discoveries taught them while the Olmecs remain shrouded in mystery because nobody can work out their language...which may be why von Daniken got away with writing that preposterous rubbish about 'Chariot of the Gods'. We now know how the Nazca lines were made, and why, for instance, and it's only through further research will the theories of alien assistance in the development of human society be consigned to sci-fi films and books.

Nothing to do with racism, it is all to do with the technology that they had then to what we have now. We still couldn't build one today with all of our technology. It is a comparison and not an insult.

One from from a website called "Medium" which, according to its (bio?), was a place for "free thinkers".....................

The other from some crank trying to peddle their book or somesuch.

With the Romans, we have the tools they used. We have drawing etc of how they built things. We have written text about it all...
