I've got an incoming co-ax off the roof into the lounge, which then splits off to another TV, with a T off to the TV in the lounge.

At the moment, it's just on a co-ax splitter behind the TV, but I'm planning to re-site the TV and want to re-site the joint outside in a waterproof box, using a Labgear F type splitter and F type plugs.

The question, as per the title, is can I use F type connectors with bog standard brown co-ax that you normally fit with standard plugs?

Have you considered a f type to coax connector?

Yes you can I did exactly the same thing, only problem is I can't pick up any channels

Just kidding it works perfect....:)

Some brown coax cable outer is a difficult size especially if it is old. That's can cause a problem, well a fiddle.
But you should be fine to use f plugs

Much depends on the inner core - some older coax use a multi-stranded inner core, which will not work well with F-plugs. F-plugs, or rather the F-sockets which work with them, need a thin, single, centre core.

The only Coax cable I’ve ever seen with a stranded centre core was cctv coax ….not tv coax ..

personally - i would add an amplifier
mine has all F-type connectors - I also replaced the cable to the aerial (which is now in the loft)

There is an amp on the feed to the second TV.

Short answer is yes you can. The foil extra screen is removed when terminating the F-plug onto the cable when using 'satellite grade' cables.

Measure the coax diameter and use the nearest to correct size F-plugs:

https://www.toolstation.com/proception-f-plug/p56253 for the 6.3 mm outside diameter and

https://www.toolstation.com/proception-f-plug/p84591 if small diameter, higher loss stuff, around 4/5 mm diameter typically.

F-plug to TV socket adapters plus a Belling-Lee TV plug will likely not fit in a standard masthead style waterproof box - so you'd need some other style housing for the splitter.
