Solar Inverters & Batteries

for those of you that have such things, where do you have them and do you have that requires 300 mm of free space above and to each side of them ?

For me, it is on the space that did house an under counter fridge. In the lowest point at the corner of the building, likely the last place any building fire would reach.

Seems now banned for being housed in the loft, as with a building fire they could prevent rescue, but my house, six doors to outside, without including windows we could escape through, and if the batteries went on fire, there is no room directly above, just a balcony.

Not clear if your question refers to either or both, but my inverter is on a gable wall in the loft. Battery, such as it is, is in the car.

No what I was trying to find out was - things like inverters and batteries come with instructions saying they must have 300mm free space to the top and sides
how well are these rules followed?

my inverter has just been fitted and its 185 from ceiling, plenty space ether side - sparky says thats fine

It's fine... until something goes wrong and then it isn't fine.

I looked at my instructions

so seems the same, I do not think there is the room it shows, there is no inverter either side of it, and do not think I have the room under it, as hard to reach on/off switch.

But been there for 20 months now, so have no intension of moving it. It is in about the coolest room in the house, had it been mounted in the loft where they wanted to put it, then it would have got a lot warmer.

I did a "find in page" search, for mm, which only found the word "Communication" there is nothing in the text, only that picture, which also shows so seems to be a suggestion to mount, so heat can get away, and says

The ambient temperature is required to be within -25°C ~ 60°C.

and where mine is, it is unlikely to even get to 25°C never mind 60°C as it is basic in entrance to a basement so gets very little sun.

Had the inverter been in the loft, then would have been worried about over temperature, but loft fitting of batteries no longer permitted, and the inverter tends to be near the batteries.
