Latest immigration figures

Just because you want to believe that doesn't make it true
It is true.
If your house was on fire ,you would move away from the fire until you were at a safe distance.
You wouldn't get on a bus and travel 100 miles to another town and tell the people there that you were waiting for the fire to go out.
There is nothing wrong with economic migration, it has always go on but it has to be regulated for the benefit of the migrant and the host population.
You only have to look at the situation in Palestine to see problems that large scale illegal/uncontrolled migration has caused.
Starmer needs to start producing results and convince the public that he and his government is serious about controlling immigration.

It is true.
But the vast majority of asylum seekers are successful.
Do you think your judgement is better than the Home Office experts?

It's not the house that's on fire, it's usually the young men themselves.

You wouldn't get on a bus and travel 100 miles to another town and tell the people there that you were waiting for the fire to go out.
You would if it was you that were in danger of being set on fire.

Fair comment.

That isn't migration, that's illegal occupation by Israelis.

Can asylum applications be prevented, (by humane methods)? Several governments have been trying without any success for many years.

I hear the Germans are having a pretty good crack at it at present.
They must be populist opportunists too, I guess.

Let's see how successful they are, before we congratulate them.
plans to increase the number of border police to enforce stricter migration policies.

I'm not sure that Merz understands the problems:
He said that according to EU agreements asylum-seekers must apply for protection in the first EU country they enter.
While the general idea is that asylum seekers should apply for protection in the first EU country they enter, it's not a strict, legal requirement.

Also Germany can't refuse to accept applications, but they can refuse to grant asylum. There's a subtle difference.
Germany announced recently that it would reject undocumented migrants, including asylum-seekers, at the country's borders

From your comment, is it reasonable to conclude that you hate refugees,
He said he was prepared to stand on a (Suffolk?) beach and shoot unarmed women and children as they desperately tried to come ashore.

Make your own mind up.

Net migration already fell 20% under the last government and its not Legal migration that is costing the tax pay £5bn a year.

Meanwhile illegal boat criminal migrants are already at a new record high 35% increase over 2024 YTD. If only the new government had a plan.

You are wrong.

the refugees from Ukraine did not all stay in Poland, they dispersed across Europe.

You are arguing that those who didn’t stay in Poland must be economic migrants.

Imagine living in that street, would you be happy with that? That's not integrating.

When I go to Turkey on holiday I hear this (or something similar) every day it's nice its part of their culture..

Thoughts?
