I sprayed loads of kitchen cupboard doors for a mate who was using his work's workshop (film prop company). They had about 40. They came in useful.
Aldi had something similar, which I bought around 20 years ago, they just lacked the tool shelf at the bottom. I am still making good use of them, and still see similar in Aldi/Lidl from time to time. As you suggest, being plastic, they have some 'give' - they work on both a flat surface, but enough give to accommodate, an uneven one.
My previous ones (branded Stanley as well), didn't have the shelf. I left them on site and they disappeared.
