her appeal was on the basis that she did not understand her guilty plea meant that she accepted the charge.

People do of course plead guilty to crimes that they do not properly understand. it does happen a lot, particularly with more complex crimes. But in this case it's not very credible.

She is lucky that they did not remove her discount for pleading guilty. That is in no way suggesting that she might have got a lower sentence to start with. People do worse and get less.

It's a bit odd that Yax's only gripe is with Muslims (any old Muslim will do, guilty or innocent) when white boys are far more prolific offenders.

The complaints to the Church superiors were dismissed without any investigation.
Later they tried to pay the complainers to keep quiet, and quietly moved the abusers to a different parish, diocese or even country.

We have not been able to find a reliable estimate for the total number of victims, however. We therefore cannot say whether the figures quoted in these posts are right or wrong.
When we asked Ms Champion about the figure again this week she told us it was “completely unreliable”, and that it was based on an extrapolation.
