Doesn't seem good does it, paying traffickers to cross the channel, then lying to rescuers that they are in distress, It all seems pretty much a premeditated crime to begin with rather than a genuine plea for help.

and you are simultaneously claiming if they are in British waters they can be pushed back

so they would have to wait until they are in British waters, at which point the people on the boat can claim they are in distress

They can prevent them from entering UK waters, at that point they remain in French waters.

just because they need to use smugglers and maybe lie about being in distress doesnt mean they arent genuine asylum seekers

No they are on passage. If someone raises the alarm that a vessel is in distress they must assist. It's all clearly stated in SOLAS and UNCLOS.

It's like magic, you can use the two to plot exactly where you are and the chart will show exactly where the border is. It is no different to a land border.

Until they claim asylum they are illegals and can be prosecuted for their immigration offences.

ONCE they claim asylum and if their claim is approved, they have a limited right not to be prosecuted for some of the immigration offences.

gps has an accuracy of 10 to 25 metres plus or minus

so there is no way to determine if a boat is in French or British waters with


your latest dumb argument that a British boat can stay EXACTLY on the border of English water whilst pushing back a boat to stop it leaving French water
