Affiliated unions pay an annual fee to the Labour Party; in return, they elect thirteen of the thirty-nine members of Labour's National Executive Committee and fifty per cent of the delegates to Labour Party Conference. Local union branches also affiliate to Constituency Labour Parties and their members who are also individual members of the Party may represent the union as delegates on Labour Party structures.

by-election in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse. Labour took top spot with 8,559 votes. The SNP placed second with 7,957 votes, with Reform UK closely taking third with 7,088 votes.

It's interesting. Someone said the SNP were originally a protest party of sorts, the disruptor, arguing for independence. They are now an established party and, after 18 years in power, many Scots are fed up with their rhetoric and lack of delivery. The person went on to say in a way, Reform can now be looked on in Scotland as the protest party, the disruptor.

They did well in Hamilton, maybe 3rd but look at their share of the vote. Ok it's only a by-election, however I wouldn't be at all surprised if they do quite well in our 2026 Scottish elections.
