Exactly what taxes do they pay? I mean, an illegal immigrant in the U.K. could pay 'taxes' such as council tax, vehicle excise tax, insurance premium tax, value added tax etc etc. That doesn’t legitimise them. They obviously can’t pay national insurance or income tax. Are these undocumented US workers paying any taxes that would require them to have the U.K. equivalent of a national insurance number or a URN from the HMRC?
Yes undocumented workers pay income tax and Medicare taxes

If you move to another country from your own and you are given a temporary visa, you do not make your life there without full residency. If you choose to extend your stay because the authorities have not caught up with you, you run the risk of exactly what is happening, they are being removed. It doesn't make any difference to your having a temporary protection order or not. You will be looking over your shoulder all of your life.
