Cooling tips

I bought some of that many years ago, for the caravan, when it's parked in my drive. The sun hits the front windows, and really heated the caravan up. I just hung the foil along the inside of the windows. I have continued to use it ever since, every time it is parked, it works extremely well.

Run the cold tap over your wrists, good for hangovers too.

Cold water works if the water is cool.

Years ago I went to the Royal Opera house. Ten quid for tickets but we were up in the Gods. At the first intermission I went to the gents and tried the water over my wrists. The water was very, very warm. I went to the bar. The staff took pity on me and allowed me to sit in the bar and watch the rest of the performance.

Hangovers? That is God's way of saying that you are not drinking enough on a regular basis. I haven't had a hangover for ages- and no, I am not saying that is a good thing.

Madri- the beer brewed by Carlsberg(?) up north. Decent beer, they sell it in my local, but it ain't Spanish.
We were on a tour of India in 2023, rail and coach, after every visit to a tourist attraction ( the heat and humidity were fierce) our coach attendant produced ice cold Cobras, a nice little earner for him

Edit We took some rechargeable hand held fans which were a god send at some sites, even our local guide was feeling the heat

What's your tipple?

I've barely had a drop for almost ten years. I don't think I ever actually had a favourite. Maybe Miller Genuine Draft and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. I would have spurts of liking one beer and then move on. I used to drink mainly whisky, beer (both ales and lagers) and wine (red/white). But also port, sherry and brandy. Then I took a month off and realised I no longer enjoyed it. So, I just stopped.

Torres 10 brandy for me but at the moment a pint of Stella sitting in my lounge with the aircon on at 22.4 having just watched England lose to France. 24-26.

You can hardly see mine....

My final tip, now that the weather is cooling, is that most traditional masonry built houses will have built up a lot of heat in the structure. So, you might open the windows for a bit and think the house has cooled. But as soon as you close them, the temperature will shoot up again. Our house takes a couple of days to get back to normal.

same here, I have got air con but before that ours stayed hot for days.

Mate, I've got external wall insulation installed and it makes a big difference in cooling the house down.

Exactly, mine takes several days to aquire heat, then several days to loose that heat.

Here is today's temperature graph. Yellow internal, blue external, showing a sudden fall at 16:20, when we had a few drops of rain delivered.

That's interesting to know. Just to clarify, do you mean it keeps the house cool in the hot weather. Or it helps it cool down afterwards.
