I love Tennis me....

Anyone else been watching the Queens tournament?

Wimbledon next...

I've also been watching Andy Roddicks YouTube channel, I love it :)

Just me then..... :LOL: :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Tennis is my favourite sport. But I don't watch TV very much these days.

I used to love it when Andy Roddick and Sue Barker worked together. He is surprisingly astute and great fun.

I hate tennis!!!!

I try and chase the ball from one side of the screen to the other!! My master goes bonkers with me!!!!!

How things change

Back in the day to win on grass you had to have a serve and volley game

Nowadays there is no chance of winning with those tactics

Power tennis from the back now !!!

Bring back wooden rackets ????

I actually prefer women's tennis these days. The men's game is just so power oriented. I have enormous admiration for the skill required to control that power, but it is just too fast for me.

Nothing matches the old days, the 1980 final between Borg and McEnroe was one of the greatest sporting events ever.

Maybe but he did pretty well against Andre Agassi

Those were great matches! I was a huge Agassi fan. Sampras was often unplayable, though.

For some reason, things have changed over the past twenty years and have tipped the balance in favour of the baseliners.

I agree, but I think agassi sort of stated the baseline play (or he was the first who was very good at it).....didn't he?

He was the first in a long time to do it successfully at Wimbledon. I remember how strange that seemed at the time. On other surfaces, I think baseliners had more success. Especially on clay.

Base line tennis seemed to start with Borg and his run of Wimbledon titles
He played with a wooden racket afaik

Than there was Jimmy Connors first person I recall who played with a metal racquet ??

Other memories were Arthur Ashe when he won Wimbledon

The all German final Becker v Stich

The doubles experts Hewitt & McMillan
McMillan was a two handed player hence why his singles game was not good ?

Worked in a rental over the Wimbledon tournament in Wimbledon rented by Pat Rafter Wimbledon finalist afaik ??

First final I saw on the tv as a kid was
Stan Smith v Nastasi
