Replacing garage window and door?

Hi everyone,
Please see the attached pictures of my existing wooden window and door, I’m thinking about changing them with upvc, the opening for the window is 1236 W x 1070 H, I’ve seen that I need to deduct 10mm for fitting, I’m going to go for second hand unit, so much cheaper than, if I get a upvc window similar to the wooden one, I assume that I open the window and screw into the wooden door frame? To fix the other end I did think about putting some right angled brackets on the upvc unit and secure it to the wall, it won’t look great and I’m not sure if it will damage the upvc frame in anyway? I guess the other option is to remove the beading and the glass and then use long fixing screws and plugs into the bricks, top & bottom and left hand side, is that difficult? I removed the trim on a different window a few years ago using a scraper it did mark the trim quite a bit, would a proper glazers knife, if there is such a thing help? Maybe the scraper was too flexible? Any thoughts on how much the glass alone would weigh? I’m 66, so not young, can probably handle 40 lb, I’ll have someone helping me, another DIYer, he’s older than me, but I hope we can both lift the new unit in? I can’t see a lintel in the garage, so I was going to put a plank of wood across and 2 uprights, that should be ok? If I manage to get a upvc widow with 2 openings, 1 each end, the just open the windows and screw in side, top and bottom? The chances of getting one with my dimensions with 2 openings is slim.
Thinking about the door, the actual frame is 765 W x 1990h, so they are the internal measurements, if I give those to the supplier hopefully he can sell me a door, I intend to keep the existing wooden frame, might put some UPVC trim on it to save me painting it, and attaching the door to the outside of the frame, sound ok? Will I be able to attach clothes hooks to the door frame to hang up my scruffs, or will that damage the door?

Thanks for your help

It should be diy-able , make sure you measure inside and out , you can get caught out if the top is stepped .
You can screw thru the frame to brickwork , brackets easier to use with new openings where they can be built in .
At 67 I managed to fit first floor windows on my own( even with cervical myopathy).
Just don’t rush fitting .
Lots of videos online showing basic installs .

Why are you even thinking to change them? What you have there, looks absolutely fine in the photos. Chances of finding second-hand items, to fit, in UPVC, almost nil. Best you could expect second hand, is to buy under-sized, and make up the difference somehow.

My entire pre-fab garage, was bought second-hand, at a give-away price. Doors, windows, etc. were all rotten. I made my own replacements, with timber bought from a timber yard.

Did you remove the beading and glass? Was it difficult? I’ve seen some YouTube videos and they make it look easy, but I struggled

The wooden frame is rotten , my woodworking skills aren’t that great & with Upvc I won’t need to paint it

Then you will have to get the items, ordered to size. Cheapest way, is to find a local company, which actually manufactures windows and doors, and ask them for a quote.

Didn’t realise that, so I’ll have to install the glass and beading
You will in all probability have to deploy 'packers' to ensure the glazing units sit right and do not distort the frame. As well as distorting the framing, a poorly fitted unit can all too easily lose its seal. Poorly fitted units are just as bad as frames installed to tightly into the opening by fixing too firmly.

Thanks, yeah I saw that on 1 of the videos I watched, they used Packers in alternative corners, I think I'll do all 4
