A schoolgirl was put into isolation for wearing a Union Jack dress to celebrate being British at her school's culture day.

Other pupils with St George's and Welsh flags were also turned away, students were allowed in burkas, niqabs and traditional Nigerian clothing.

In a permission letter sent to parents, it said the Culture Celebration Day was 'designed to promote inclusion, understanding, and appreciation of different backgrounds, traditions and heritages'.

Yeah right. Just not ours then. Disgraceful.

I can see where gammon Wail readers got confused over this.

Rubbish reporting, what has perhaps conveniently been left out is whether the parents were sent a letter saying non school uniforms would be allowed.

Emmmm, is this classed as school uniform?

Her speech started off well. But then turned into a BNP style rant. A stupid stunt. I blame the father.

The school has apologised unreservedly. So they accept they screwed up.

It seems a lot of schools are looking to ban skirts too.

That Spice Girl will do anything for publicity

The clue was in the brief ...

grade F.

But did that include British, English etc. traditions. What were those children supposed to wear. By itself, the brief is a bit vague. If a boy had turned up dressed as a Morris dancer, would that have been OK.
