My roof has always leaked in certain types of weather. My theory was that part of the roof had too shallow a pitch for the clay tiles that were used. I knew that tin could be used for lower pitched roofs so I replaced the tiles with metal profile, in 4 metre lengths. Not sure if I should have fitted a different type of chimney flashing as previously it went over some tiles and under others. Anyway, the first time it rained after doing the job, the roof leaked at the chimney flashing. I thought it was because of the angled cut edge of the metal, creating high and low areas. I ran some expanding foam along that edge, trimmed off the excess and painted it with bitumen paint for UV protection. The next heavy rain it leaked as bad as ever!
