The Football Thread

It doesn't work that way. They ask the Grauniad sportswriters and take an average of their replies, then publish two a day in alphabetical order. You can have a read of what they think about the Villa, if you like but i'm not going to post 'em all...just the teams who have some chance of winning the league.

So no, there won't be one on United! :D Although i predict they'll finish higher than last season.
I think you can take Tottenhams place.

Aston villa will win the Premier league......you heard it here first chaps, im never wrong

I just looked 100 to 1 I think

Leicester were 5000 to 1 in 2016 (was it)

At one stage I was going to put £100 on Leicester to win the league. It was down to 45-1 at that stage of the season,
but I thought it was worth the gamble.

It was a Monday night if I remember right. They where playing Chelsea. I couldn't possibly bet against my team. So I never made the bet. Id wait until Tuesday.

They beat Chelsea 2-1 . Next day the odds went 25-1 ... and I never made that bet.

World Club champions Chelsea can look forward to a sustained challenge for a top four place but are they good enough to win the league?

They're not even the best team in London.

Not all world leaders wear blue?

Hartlepool United owner Raj Singh [has sent] a letter to each of Hartlepool’s fellow National League clubs asking them to ban Jeff Stelling

Apparently still fuming over Stelling’s decision to step down from an honorary role in which he wielded the same amount of power as your average regimental goat, Singh recently embarked on a letter-writing campaign to call upon his fellow owners to deny Stelling any of the myriad lavish trappings of hospitality associated with cash-strapped non-league clubs when he travels to Hartlepool away games.

"Unbelievable Jeff!"

Nothing wrong with Jeff.

Good post on such a poignant day.

I wonder if that's UAFA having a dig at FIFA for allowing two murdering nations such as Russia & Qatar to hold the last 2 world cups.

But then again UAFA have allowed Saudi Arabia buy and control numerous European football teams. Yet the Saudi government is responsible for the 370, odd thousand deaths due to bombing and Famine in the Yemen.

Turkey responsible for killing 70,000 kurdish men, women and children. Yet are still allowed to enter the European competitions.

And then there's the war in Israel with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran who competed in the last world cups regardless of the murder of men women and children of any sexual preference.

Horrible hypocritical world we live.

It's more to do with Mohamed Salah criticising a UEFA tribute to the late Suleiman al-Obeid after they failed to reference the circumstances surrounding his killing.

In a brief post on X, UEFA called the former national team member “a talent who gave hope to countless children, even in the darkest of times”.

Salah responded, “Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?”

Silence is complicity.
