Warwickshire rapists. Who are they?

Do you think our government pay the 4 star rate? I’d say we do.

Do you think if we pay the 4 star rate for an entire hotel, they should remove the 4 star services ? That doesn’t seem fair.

But all this is just your “opinion” to try and undermine the point…..
from most accounts they pay double the 4 star rate hence why some are clamoring to turn their hotels over

I am not trying to undermine anything. I just don't see the point in obsessing about non-existent four star luxury. It distracts from trying to find workable solutions.

I found those videos quite embarrassing. Highly paid news presenters, including the delightful Isabel from Dubai, going on about "OMG, they've got food and beds. And televisions. And food. And video games. And food."
No one’s obsessing? You do like making that claim.

A few have said some hotels are 4 star, they are 4 star and that’s provable. You’ve tried to make it out it’s just basic accommodation and rations, but when asked for proof you haven’t presented any.

You press others to prove it but don’t seem to be able to back up your claim/opinion.

If it doesn’t matter if it’s 4 star “it is” why make such a big deal about it, as I’ve stated the hotels are 4 star, I’d suggest the service is 4 star. Unless you can present me with any real reason to change my mind

Please don’t feel like I’m singling you out, I know if any forum member presses you, that claim gets used.

If you feel I am, sorry and have a good day.

But @MNW67 claims it’s just “basic” accommodation, 1 or 2 star in his opinion.

He hasn’t presented any proof yet though, just like @denso13, they both say something and think it’s true…..

No, I don't think so. It's generally more run down hotels which the owners couldn't fill regularly. They are grateful for the block bookings.

Not what I'd call 4 star from the ones I've seen. I certainly wouldn't be paying 4 star rates to stay at them. 4 star to me is only a bit down from 5 star full luxury, and above 3 star which is general overnight quality.

Whether they are overcharging, wouldn't surprise me. I wonder who owns the hotels, and what the connections are and how they get such good contracts.

But whilst attention is focussed elsewhere those details just slide on by

Probably about 2 star. Just a bed with a bathroom. Serve yourself slop. No fancy amenities. The idea that they are all getting facials and spa treatments before going for a dip in the pool is hilarious.

But, in its annual accounts for the year to March 2023, the firm posted a boosted pre-tax profit of £39.3 million – up by nearly a fifth (18%) compared to its previous high of £33.3 million in 2022.

The chain’s turnover rose by 31% – from £117.8 million to £154.7 million – and it increased its staffing to 2,365, the latest accounts show.

That’s interesting, what do you think caused the increase?

How many do you think are 4 star?

Quite a lot seem to have been 4 star. But when I checked the tripadvisor reviews for the last few to be named in the media, the reviews were absolutely appalling. They all seemed to have fit the same pattern of being very rundown and unpopular. That doesn't stop them being four star. There are plenty of hotels in awful condition with four star ratings.

In a way, you could argue it's better to house them in nicer accommodation, at least for now.

Why?

Because we have fecked the whole 'how to accommodate them' thing up, along with processing etc. Therefore, in interim, what are we to do with them? If we turf 'em onto the street as some would support, all we risk doing is making an already marginalised group feel even more so, increasing the risk of some of them turning to crime, out of anger or whatever.

I keep on saying it, we should be building basic, clean, safe, manned accommodation for them on disused land that's not located slap bang in the middle of villages, towns, cities.

Why are we so p1ss poor at doing ANYTHING even remotely quickly? It's pathetic.

The one by me is a Hilton...lovely place not sure on the star rating

That doesn't surprise me. Britannia hotels are generally crap. Faded glories which they buy when other operators have neglected them. Pretty much exactly what I have been saying:

AI Overview

Britannia Hotels has gained a reputation for being one of the worst hotel chains in the UK, consistently receiving negative reviews and being named the worst by consumer groups like Which?. Customers frequently cite issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, and poor customer service.
