almost flush with outlet, 4 inch.Do you mean fully surface mounted, or one that fits almost flush to the wall with it's outlet fed into the ducting to the outside grille. Also, what size, 4" or 6"?
I'll have a look when I get home. Could not find any order details in emails, so guessing I just picked it up from a local merchant, B&Q, Wickes, Toolstation etc. It started to get a bit noisy, but then just totally stopped working.whats the make of the fan you have now - maybe a photo of it
Just a DIYer but quite a the humidity fans I have come across , owners say not great
Can you get at the ceiling rose wiring from above, for example in the loft?problem I have is that the fan is not connected to light, which is why currently using a pull cord. I think this restricts me now. I wish it just came on with the light!

No, well, access to the light is possible, I think (although might be boarded...) but I'd need to make holes in the wall for the cable. Can you get at the ceiling rose wiring from above, for example in the loft?
Some people use a PIR movement detector as a switch, but it may not work if you spend long periods lying motionless in the bath, or seated.

I think its a Monrose based on the photowhats the make of the fan you have now - maybe a photo of it

You can get fans that include an overrun timer. The PIR is just a switch. 20 minutes is a reasonable overrun for a shower or WCI like the idea of motion sensor, if there was one with overrun that would be perfect.
