I had a new boiler that was moved due to being close to the cooker but the pipework means those standard pipe casings for under the boiler will be too small
Can I change the pipework or is that too labour intensive and will I just have to get a custom made ugly casing of some sort
Which would be better?

Not great obviously didn't believe in pipe clips or keeping pipework level.
We would have moved pipework under worktop and brought it up straight.
Your installer should have at least offered that option.
Is there a system filter hidden somewhere?

Why didnt they put the boiler to the right so the pipes come straight up?

Must be a reason?

Box it and tile over that using matching tiles.
Magnetic or similar door catch to make it demountable for access.

Not sure what a system filter is and no offer was made to move the pipework under the worktop. I am assuming it is too late to change the pipework? Or too much of job?

It's never too late, just depends on how much you want to spend doing it. Can't really see why it was moved though, gas hob doesn't require that much clearance

Not sure what a system filter is

It's a magnetic filter, fitted in the heating water return pipe, to help prevent rust (magnetite), being washed into your boiler and blocking a modern boiler narrow water passages.

Most boiler manufacturers these days, insist that one is fitted, to maintain the guarantee. The internal surfaces of steel radiators rust, much worse without inhibitor, or a system which has lacked proper maintenance - flakes of which can be carried by the circulating water into the boiler. A filter helps to prevent it, but the filter will need cleaning out regularly.

The return pipe, is one of the two larger diameter pipes, but the one which gets warm last, when the boiler fires.

Is the boiler leaning to the left, or is it the angle of the photo?
