Emma Raducanu is shaping up very nicely at the US Open.

Two very comfortable victories.

I think sabalenka will win the title, I think she's got Emma's number.

I disagree on that :eek:

I think Emma knows how to play against Sabalenka and it is usually very close. There are other players where Emma struggles much more.

If they meet (are you a betting man) £20 on it, winner donates to charity :)

Does that make sense? OMG loser gives to charity :oops:

No, I'm not a betting man :LOL::LOL:

Sorry to be a party pooper!

I have just seen that they are due to meet in Round 4.

how fine the line between fascination and obsession can be...

It's a good job I am on the right side :LOL::LOL:

I think she has incredible talent and I love the way she plays.

But I don't particularly like her. She is rather self absorbed.

So just a fascination with her playing style then - really?

She does nothing special with either backhand or forehand from what i've seen.

She is actually a fantastic striker of the ball. But it's also her speed, movement and balance. The way she can retrieve balls and hit winners on the run from positions which most players can't. I love the backhand she plays whilst kneeling. Can you imagine how hard that is. I admire that even though she lacks absolute power, she manages to mix it with the best using intelligence and court craft. More rapier than bludgeon.

That's something she'll always lack: a killing stroke to wear down an opponent. If her accuracy and consistency can improve she's in with a shout and maybe, one day, a Wimbledon final. She seems to have overcome her teething trouble going into her twenties, but a career can swiftly pass by unless she can raise her game when it matters. Up to now, her US open looks like a one-off.
