writing to ask your opinion on selling my 10 plate fiesta in the near future. I'm looking for another car in the meantime

It has problems ; core plugs leaking,
Section of exhaust with Flexi joint old and rusty and driver's seat is badly ripped.
115k mileage
Could I spend money fixing it first? Or best to just sell on gumtree as a car for parts.?

I've been offered £100 for it but not sure if I can get a bit more?
Would £500 be reasonable? Fairly new back box, new coil pack new tyre

Im also surprised to see contemporary cars on auto trader with similar miles for £1000

eBay auction starting at £100. State the faults (which don't sound too bad for a driveway bodger).

Do it before MOT expires so the buyer can drive it home.

Have you tried some 'whacking' action on the centre the weeping core plug? Carefully hit in the dead centre with the right drift end and your leak could be history (y)

Get a price from webuyanycar.com or any similar place.

Then you have your lowest starting price.

How much is t6we buy any car quote?
Not keen on those guys.
I did ask about a Micra I had about 8 years ago.
They estimated 7 or 800 at the time I think, but when I went to their depot they sucked sir through their teeth and after nearly 30 minutes, offered me £50.
This car came up £700 but I bet they'll offer a lot less after they've lured me onto their depot.

Well to be fair you're not offering much but you have nothing to lose (except your time). I've never used them tbh.

You don't have to sell to them to get a price.

But if they give you a price, then you at least know what price to start at.

Eah, but the price the website gives you is their max that they start hammering you down from when they turn up to inspect and find all sorts of other things.. Does that make it a reasonable minimum for anyone else?

You can try FM marketplace or EBay but tbh, probably not worth a lot. Whatever you do, do not sell for less than a scrap dealer will give you. They'll come and pick it at your home as well. It's a sad day watching your pride and joy being winched away but at thd end of the day, it's only worth what someone will pay for it.
My son's bought many car off of 'a mate' etc and immediately scrapped it for more. Don't even have to move it.
