OMG My Road tax

OMG my road tax for my new BMW is £651 per year for next 5 years!! Disgraceful because it is a plug in hybrid I expected it to be cheaper. Paid 50 k for the car so I would have thought it would be cheap car tax. Had the same with my range rover but that was deisel so I didn't mind. Total rip off!!

We had similar for a few years when we bought the discovery. Problem is that this 'luxury car surcharge' hasn't increased the threshold for years so more and more cars are being sucked into it, much like the income tax threshold not increasing.

I assumed because it was a plug in hybrid that it wouldnt be subject to the surcharge, the actual road tax is £195 per year but the surcharge for it having a list price of over 40k we have to pay a £425 surcharge on top of the road tax for 5 years. Gutted and fed up with being great. I think it is because I am good looking they are doing this.

I just assumed, not really shocked as a bit miffed because I got the plug in and paid extra for it thinking it was the same as my Mrs car, she doesnt pay road tax as it is electric.

I think the tax surcharge now applies to even all electric cars? even one's with good looking drivers.

HM is not though. I think that is why he was charged more!!!!
