OMG My Road tax

I think the tax surcharge now applies to even all electric cars? even one's with good looking drivers.
I had to still tax Lena's on line but we dont pay anything, the charge says zero,,OMG dont tell me we are due to pay the same for hers too. I will just put Lenas on SORN if that is the case

Hopefully not. But get a second source for confirmation:

From April 1st 2025 Electric Cars will also be eligible for the “Expensive Car Supplement” (ECS).

What is the Expensive Car Supplement” (ECS)?

Vehicles costing over £40,000 attract an additional payment / Tax of £410.00 PA.

This charge comes into effect from the second year and remains for 5 years.

These changes are not retrospective so will not affect vehicles registered before April 1st 2025.

Mines £620 for the next 5 years. £195 (which if it doesn’t go up, I’ll be surprised) + £425 'luxury tax'. Even though I negotiated £6.5k off of the price which made it under the £40k limit, it goes on the list price, not what you actually pay. I think I read that the poverty spec Tesla's are priced at £39,995. At least my discount will cover the extra £2,100 in road tax and a £1075 4 year service plan with change to spare. Our A3 was only £35 a year!

I am going back to the showroom tomorrow, I got a bloody ceramic coating I never asked for, bought a tech pack so I could have heads up display and other add ons, this is a step too far. No discount whatsoever, salesman made out he was doing us a favour selling us the car.

Yeah, I upgraded to a model with HUD, electric pano roof, heated and cooled seats….. the HUD is bloody great - I feel like a fighter pilot when I’m driving it. ;) :ROFLMAO:

Same here as well as the actual speed and I think there’s a camera in the screen that reads road signs and they come up in it too - speed limit, bends, no entry, schools etc. It seems dangerous taking your eyes off the road and looking at the dash now!

Mine is called tech pack two and has features same as yours, it even slows down to the speed limits on the road by reading the signs, all very cool.

Old boy I was talking to moaned about the tech on his new car, said he put in in reverse the other day and a tv came on showing a film of someone being run over.

My tax was zero but went up to £20 this year....2014 plate car.

Don't think ours does that but it would probably suit me. There's a safety feature on ours that I’ve not got used to yet. It’s called 'forward collision avoidance'. Basically if you’re going a bit too fast and the car in front brakes a bit too quick or someone drives across the road a bit near to you, a red warning triangle comes on the dash, a little alarm sounds, the steering wheel vibrates and it applies the brakes before you’ve even had time to take your foot off the accelerator pedal. When I say 'applies', I should say 'slams on' and feck me does it slam them on! I’m surprised I’ve not been rear ended. Only happened twice so far though. You can set the sensitivity permanently lower, which I have now and you can turn it off by going into the vehicle settings but it resets to 'on' each time you switch the car off. Maybe says more about my driving though - Mrs Mottie drives it more than me and she's never had it happen to her….
