When they were new the base model was around £65k, The reasonable spec model was £75k and the decent spec model 80+

I would usually expect such a car to be selling around 50% after 3 years.

It's like quoting an RRP, it doesn't mean anything.

Only a bargain, if you think it's worth it to you. Probably is for 2 years or so of life. But it just shows to me how devalued the brand is.

Does your £5k in 1 year include the depreciation ?

I doubt it does, so the true cost is much higher.

But as long as you can afford it, it's your choice. It's not for all though, and I personally would never own a LR , not because of the price tag though.

They already knew you'd failed the fool with too much money test by walking into the BMW showroom. So I'm revising my guess to 42p.

A few weeks ago, I casually mentioned that I don't like diesels, and all hell broke loose.

It was new when I bought it. I ran it from new, each year the depreciation is larger, I wouldn't want to keep them for too long as the price plummets on them after 5 years.
