It isn't a 'peace plan', it appears to be an ultimatum designed to portray the Israelis as the party that wants peace, if the Palestinians don't accept, Netanyahu and Trump will claim that they had had their chance of peace but rejected it.The plan does not include an agreement for Israel to recognise a State of Palestine.
That's always been, and probably always will be, the ambition of Israel.
So we are clear –All the reputational reports of UK's recognition of Palestine as a done deal, no strings attached.
How about you name them instead of just trolling as usualStrange how the Jew Haters have gone quiet.
You best add Netanyahu to your listThe only opposition I've come across so far is by Hamas, and number of posters on this site.
Hmmmmmmmm

The discussion was whether it was a precondition. So we are clear –
This solution is not a reward for Hamas…
Because it means Hamas can have no future.
No role in government.
No role in security.

PM statement on the recognition of Palestine: 21 September 2025

Yep, and in his words...You best add Netanyahu to your list
It is a pre conditionThe discussion was whether it was a precondition.
Evidently it wasn't.
UK recognises the State of Palestine, It's a done deal.
It is a pre condition
They won’t recognise if……
I don't think that is true.
The official statement says that the UK government recognises Palestine and that the Hamas issue is separate:
"Recognising Palestine is a historic decision, firmly grounded in the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination, which the government committed to as part of its manifesto.
In a statement this afternoon, the Prime Minister was clear this decision is not about Hamas. They are a brutal terrorist organisation that wants to see Israel destroyed. Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace with recognised borders is the exact opposite of their hateful vision."
Without meaning to be glass half empty, I think a significant part of the challenge will be genuinely eradicating Hamas. Can an ideology ever be eradicated?Palestine at this point in time is still not a state, regardless of who recognises it as one. If Hamas can be removed, there is a clear pathway for Palestine officially gaining statehood.
I hope that happens and Palestine does go onto becoming a state.

The pessimist in me imagines Hamas sleepers in whatever Palestinian government is formed. No, but to disarm them, exile them and remove them from Govt is a first step, de radicalising Palestine would be a further step, it's been done in other Arab countries.
As you say, none of us knows what will happen 5 years down the line, but if in the meantime the Palestinians lot in life improves significantly, there's more chance of them existing peacefully beside Israel, other Arab countries have done it, Egypt and Jordan being good examples.
