Great news. Only phase 1 but hopefully it will end well. Israeli hostages should be released within 72 hours (the ones still alive).

Trump had very little to do with it. Hamas have, virtually, been bombed into oblivion by isreal. The thousands of protesters in isreal, who have brought netanyahoo's government to the brink of collapse, and yes even little Greta had a hand in it. Whilst trump has done some negotiating, which I absolutely hate to admit but there you have it, it has been a massive combination of world events that have brought about a POSSIBLE ceasefire. of course all those trump *** lickers will shout from the rooftops that it was all because of trump whilst all the while trump brings america to it's knees. You forgot to mention the release of Palestinian prisoners/hostages as well...

Trump has used a lot of strong arm tactics on Netanyahu and was furious when Netanyahu launched a direct attack on Qatar, when Netanyahu was forced to issue a grovelling and very public apology to Qatar, that apology wasn't Netanyahu's words, they were written down for him by Trumps team.
The fact that this time, the agreement has the backing of so many Arab countries who in turn have applied pressure on Hamas is pretty much a result of US influence.
Hatred for Trump will prevent most on here heaping praise on him, fair enough, but maybe a small round of applause for Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner wouldn't be amiss.

I did and I apologise for that. I haven't heard any numbers on the Palestinian side but I assume the number released will be in the thousands. As I've mentioned before I'd like to see the release of Marwan Barghouti, potentially a unifying figure moving forward.

Regarded as a terrorist by israel, and not sure how they'd take his contacts with certain other Palestinian groups including Hamas..
