The government already provides funding to assist homeless veterans through the
Reducing Veteran Homelessness programme.
The government can and do uplift this funding regularly depending on need.
But none of it, not one penny is diverted to provide asylum seekers accommodation. The funding is allocated to Trusts that operate on behalf of the government ann the homeless veterans.
The government also have a legal duty to provide accommodation to asylum seekers.
The government cannot avoid this legal duty. They can and do choose the level, location and duration of that accommodation.
This is delivered via private contractors.
So the funding is separate and distinct. It isn't about a choice between one or the other, they are funded separately.
And if homeless veterans need urgent assistance, I have already provided the help line, which you, and all the other misguided bigots, have significantly failed to do.
If you want to help the homeless veterans tell them what support is already available, and don't use them as pawns in your bigoted argument against asylum seekers.
